Tally has finally come clean. Do you think she will regret it? Do you think David will change his mind about her?
I don't think she will regret it and I don't think David will change his mind about her because he didn't really even believe her at first when she told him that she was the cause of all of these problems.

"Talle thought of the lesions on Shay's brain, the tiny cancers or wounds or whatever they are that she didn't even know she had. They were in there somewhere changing her friend's thoughts, warping her feelings, gnawing at the roots of who she was."

Give a chronological list of important events in the chapter. What's the kicker at the end of the chapter?
- Tally and David knock Dr. Cable out.
- They rescue the smokies from Special Circumstances.
- They escape through the roofs on their hoverboards, to get away.
- The kicker is that Maddie tells David his father is dead.

Is this quote a play on words, or does it have a deeper meaning to the story? "Radiology. Neurology. Magnetic Imaging," she read softly. "Operating Theatre Two."
I think it has a deeper meaning to the story because it sounds like thats what you go through in the operating rooms.
What labels do Tally and David find in the Special Circumstances building? Give a brief description of what you think each means.
Radiology: The rooms where the radio waves for the operation are stored.
Neurology: The room where they study the science of the nerves and how to fix the face.
Magnetic Imaging: The room where they take a picture of the current face and add the changes to it from the neurology to see what the yperson will look like.
Operating Theatre Two: The room where the surgery occurs.
Describe Shay's appearance at the end of the chapter using textual evidence>
"Shay was tall and elegant. Her eyes were copper, gold, deep, and soulful. And had every perfect feature. Shay was pretty."

In this chapter a few Uglies go to New Pretty Town to do a "trick." They make the words "THE SMOKE LIVES" with sparklers. If you had ONE chance to post a message important to you, what would it be and why?

The Uglies that met in this chapter are similar to Tally at the beginning of the book. When you compare her to these Uglies, how has Tally changed and what has made her change?
Tally has changed now because she isn't afraid of adventure anymore and she doesn't care about being pretty as much as she used to. I think David and his parents made her change partly.

I think Tally's plan will work because she seems so determined for it to. I think the thing that's driving Tally is either her guilt, or her will to get her friendship back with Shay. I think her feelings are valid because she likes David a lot, so she wants to help him.

On September 11, 2001, Islamic terrorists ran their plains into two tall standing structures know as the Twin Towers. This devastating event in which thousands lost their lives caused the United States military to move into Iraq, Afghanistan, and other Middle Eastern countries in the search for the plotter of the attack, Osama Bin Laden.

Read the following quote David says to Tally. "What you do, the way you think makes you beautiful." Name one person in you personal home life and one in your academic life (you may leave them nameless if you wish)... What makes this person beautiful?
Academic: This person has always been there for me and I am still there for her, even though we are not together anymore. She is just an amazing person in every way.
Personal: This person, one of my parents closest friends, is one of the nicest and most caring people I've ever met.

Respond to the following quote, what does it mean to you/to the story? "Becoming pretty doesn't just change the way you look... it changes the way you think." How would you want to change mentally and physically if you were pretty?
It means that when you become pretty, you get good looks, but you get a new way of thinking. The only things I would really want to change would be to make me a whole lot better at math, and make me tolerant of getting up early.

What does the following quote tell you about the city and society in general? "But you do know about genetics don't you? Sure I know all about genes. I knew two sisters, uglies, who looked almost the same. But parents and children? That's just weird."
This tells me that it's not common for parents and children to look alike. Also, the city changes people so much that they aren't even recognizable anymore.

I think being pretty is getting good looks, but loosing your own way of thinking.

Do you think Shay has a right to be jealous of Tally? Why or why not?
I think she does have a right to be jealous because shay was with David first and he gave Tally a gift that he could have given her.
Tally received a gift from David in the chapter that is special. Have you ever received something that made others jealous as this gift did? Did your gift have a meaning behind it as Tally's did?
Yes. For my thirteenth birthday, my cousin, who lives in California, sent me these really cool electronic drum sticks that you can play to with your i-pod by just drumming in the air. One of my friends came over that day and even though he didn't really say anything, I could tell he was jealous of it and wanted it. These were special because she sent them to me from California and they were very cool.

I think it would have been easier to activate it because Tally wouldn't be feeling so guilty if she had.
